These glasses are water goblets on the #6016 Wilma line. There were 10 steps in the process of creating a Navarre glass and the examples here are step 7, step 8, step 9 & step 10. Step 7 is the application of the tissue etch print. Step 8 is the application of the white wax which has flaked off in certain areas and has discolored over the years. Step 9 is the all over application of the black wax, which has flaked off in certain areas. Step 10 is the finished product after an acid bath. Steps 7 and 8 have a label of the foot with the corresponding number. The beautiful Navarre pattern is a combination of trailing flowers and a floral medallion with scrolls. This pattern has a classic elegant style and the pattern is attributed to Designer Edgar Bottome. These specific glasses can be seen in Juanita L. Williams book "Fostoria Glass The Elegant and Master Etchings" on page 123. On Page 20 of the book "Navarre by Fostoria" by Gary Schneider, Melanie Hildreth, Therese Ujfalusi and Irene Gardner, they include an example picture of some of the steps. This group was retrieved from the glass factory design morgue after it closed. This was made by the Fostoria Glass Company in Moundsville, West Virginia, USA. Each measure approximately 7 3/4" in height & 3 1/2" in diameter. Each is in vintage condition with some wax loss as seen. The finished product glass has a chip in the top rim. It is not unusual for Example & Sample items, from the factory glass morgue to have permanent writing, be unfinished, have flaws or damage as they were for factory reference.**We will be listing other prototype glasses and more NAVARRE Pattern Samples** Please look at the pictures for the best view of the item as they are part of the description. Please ask any questions before bidding. Each glass weighs just under 1 pound before being packed and will weigh 5-6 pounds when properly packed for shipping & will ship USPS Insured. We ship from California 93953 and postage is calculated by the weight, size of the box and distance to the buyer. We are always happy to combine shipping whenever possible. If you don't pay, a non-paying bidder case is opened automatically by Ebay. (Condition: Pre-Owned)
